Got pain? We’ve got the light therapy you need for relief!

By Causenta Wellness

A company called Advanced Light Devices has a tool called MultiLumen, which is a light therapy technology. Dr. Tom Incledon, Founder & CEO of Causenta, appreciates this company and their state-of-the-art machines because “Gene, who runs Advanced Light Devices, has a visionary mind and is always making his lasers better.”

The MultiLumen technology has a simple USB interface making it very easy to use and to customize —  even at the last minute — to best serve a patient’s needs. The design is comprised of laser pads that plug into the machine. These pads are especially effective because they can be manipulated to fit various parts of the body:

  • You can bend them and wrap them around arms or knees.
  • You can connect a few together to wrap them around a larger part of the body, such as a thigh.
  • You can lay them flat for use along the spine or lower back.

The other ideal factor of this technology is that is can be used on a wide variety of patients. “I have used it on athletes while they are lifting weights,” says Incledon. “I have also employed this technology when patients are in extreme pain and can barely move.”

How does MultiLumen work?

The laser flashes red light therapy which penetrates into the body and produces several effects:

  • Reduces inflammation and pain
  • Increases signals in the nervous system to lower pain thresholds
  • Increases the energy of our cells

The MultiLumen offers several wavelengths, and some of these frequencies come with additional benefits such as stimulating immune function allowing the body to fight the “bad guys” on the skin’s surface and in the blood.

What conditions can the MultiLumen treat?

MultiLumen is a tool with diverse applications that can treat patients with various medical concerns, including joint pain, neuropathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, cancer, and more. Since it utilizes various wavelengths and can be applied to many places on the body, this technology available at Causenta is very versatile.

Who can benefit from MultiLumen treatments?

Its versatility means it can ease conditions for a variety of patients including:

Athletes

For pro and amateur athletes who have had a rough day at practice and are experiencing soreness in their muscles, the MultiLumen can be a helpful tool.

The LED blocks or panels can be placed on the sore muscles to reduce inflammation in those areas. This process of relief and repair allows the athlete to train just as hard the next day without penalty from the day before.

The light energy actually enhances the body’s natural recovery process, which can also work to help prevent long-term strain on the body or injury from overuse.

Cancer patients

The MultiLumen device can help boost certain cancer treatments through “a clever method called the phytodynamic effect,” says Incledon. “In this process, we use a combination of oxygen, light, and a photosensitizer agent to blow up the cancer cells.”

There are different ways to get photosensitizer materials into the body using this state-of-the-art tool. “We can apply topical agents to skin cancers, or it can be something a patient ingests,” says Incledon.

The photons in the lasers give the photosensitizers a boost, making them more successful in killing cancer cells. A huge benefit for patients is that there are no adverse side effects with this MultiLumen cancer treatment.

Patients do not experience hair loss, pain, brain or heart issues, or endocrine dysfunction, which are all common side effects of chemotherapy and other standard of care treatments.

“Patients can see the results in PET or CT scans and blood marker tests,” says Incledon. “They also report feeling better overall in their muscles, which is an added benefit.”

Neuropathy sufferers

Patients may experience tingling or burning in their extremities, especially the hands and feet, due to damage in the nerves that lead away from the brain and spinal cord. This condition is known as neuropathy

These symptoms can be caused by cancer treatment drugs or other conditions such as diabetes, or an issue that develops post-surgery. “Sometimes patients come in and can’t walk because their neuropathy is so painful,” says Incledon.

In those cases, the MultiLumen pads are applied to the soles of the feet and on top. The process is repeated on the other foot, and about 30 minutes later, patients feel a significant reduction of pain and can walk again.

After a few treatments with MultiLumen, neuropathy patients will have lasting results of no pain without medication or supplements.

People with joint pain

For people who have joint pain, including carpal tunnel syndrome, the MultiLumen can treat joint pain within 20 to 30 minutes. The technician at Causenta can wrap the panels of the device around the wrist or another joint, and the light therapy does all the work without side effects or having to take a medication to reduce pain.

Are there other applications for MultiLumen?

Yes! This technology is very impressive and can help people with less serious needs, as well.

  • “We can place the pads around the torso, almost like a belt, and the light therapy can eliminate fat cells,” Incledon says. “People appreciate that.”
  • Minor back pain can be eliminated with this device since it can reduce inflammation in the spine and muscles of the back.
  • Patients with arthritis who want to be active can benefit from the MultiLumen. “Say you have arthritis, but you love playing golf,” says Incledon. “You come in before your game, have a light therapy treatment, and your joints will feel looser and you’ll be able to play a great game.” This technology can help arthritis patients live their best lives.
